During January the most common words we hear are: diet, cleansing, detox, weight loss among many others.
And with all those words comes massive information, it comes our way from every direction. So much information that we get confused, and most definitely, overwhelmed.
Here is where I come in, I want to help you out when it comes to Cleansing, I see it being misused in a way that we do more harm than good to our body.
I put together a series of the most common questions when it comes to Cleansing, I know this will definitely help you out deciding if a Cleanse is the right thing for you and how to do one, in a way you detoxify your body and nurture it.
Regardless if you will do your own juices at home or you have a trusted Juice Place where you can get your juices, this little questionnaire will clarify a lot of your questions and relieve you from that overwhelming feeling.
What is a Cleanse?
Purposeful cleansing is a way to reset and heal your mind and body. Whether you’re in need of a serious lifestyle change or looking to kick-start your weight loss regime, reestablishing your connection to food is the first step.
The ultimate goal of a Cleanse?
The ultimate goal of Juice cleanses and meal plans is to rid your body of toxins and load it back up with power-rich nutrients and antioxidants for a detox that’s as delicious as it is satisfying. Understanding that the main purpose of Cleansing as the words implies, is to cleanse not for weight loss. Now that doesn’t mean you will not loose weight, but it is not recommended for a long term weight loss Nutrition Plan.
What are the health benefits of a Cleanse?
1. Eliminating toxins from foods, beverages and hygiene products.
2. Increased energy throughout the day.
3. Resetting your food choices.
4. Controlling cravings.
5. Curbing food addiction.
6. Giving your body the micronutrients it needs.
7. Managing stress.
How long should I Cleanse for?
Ideally for 3 days, but will defer depending on every person. It could be less, or it could be more, most importantly is listening to your body. Your body will definitely let you know if one day was more than enough or if you could go on for more than 3 days.
Saying this, it is very important to never be hungry, you can always add fruit high on sugar, nuts and seeds, a well balanced smoothie or even raw salads when you feel you need to eat more than just a juice. DON'T WORRY, it won't really make a difference your body will continue to detoxify.
Is it O.K. to binge before a Cleanse?
Actually, this is one of the worst things you can do! You are going from your body turning massive quantities of sugar to very little. It is a very drastic change and your body will suffer severe symptoms such as: migraines, dizziness, low energy, crankiness. Ease your body gently into the Cleanse, for mild withdrawal symptoms.
